I feel pleasure in presenting this work titled: Pakistan Economy: Objective Test Bank. The subject of Pakistan Economy has assumed a great importance and is being taught at all levels and encompasses almost all disciplines. In addition, it is a compulsory subject for all competitive examinations of federal and provincial governments. Moreover, every examination nowadays contains an objective part whose weight has been increasing over time. Thus this volume assumes a complementary character to the author's earlier subjective volume titled: Pakistan Economy: In Retrospect 1947-2010. Together the two volumes will cater to both subjective and objective parts of examinations.

There are various types of objective questions namely short questions, multiple choice questions (MCQs), true/false, fill-ins and matching concepts and meanings and asking questions. All these types have been included in the book. These objective questions comprise four parts: the stem or wording/text of the question; the optionswhich are two in the case of a true-false question and three to five in the case of multiple choice questions; the Key or the correct option and finally the distracters Le. incorrect options.

As in the case of subjective volume, this volume has also been divided into two parts. Part 1 comprises an objective study of the economy in historical perspective. The whole period has been divided in six decades for purposes of analysis. Each decade has its own distinctive features. The political philosophy and economic policy differs in each case. Part 2 comprises a review of macroeconomic issues confronting the economy of Pakistan. The coverage is quite

extensive and hardly any issue has been omitted.

Thus a rare distinction of the work is its comprehensive nature. The book covers the whole life-span of Pakistan starting with independence and ending with Musharraf era including post -Musharraf developments. All other books on the economy of Pakistan are only 'partial' studies and do not cover the whole period of more than sixty years and the whole array of macroeconomic problems facing the economy.

The book is expected to be useful for teachers and students of 'Pakistan Economy' at both graduate and undergraduate levels and for those aspiring to compete in civil service examinations of the federal and provincial governments. Needless to say that the work will be equally useful for general readers interested in knowing and understanding the transition through which the economy has passed in its turbulent history.

I present this humble work with the full realization that it is not the final word; that it can be further improved; mistakes rectified and possible inaccuracies corrected. The author shall therefore gratefully acknowledge any suggestion aimed at improving the work.
