World Trade Organization (WTO) is striving to change the culture of global trade by free and fair trading practices, rules, and regulations for the world. This work in general covers WTO as a whole, but concentrates mainly on two sectors of vital interest to Pakistan, Textiles and Agriculture. These sectors are also of prime importance from a global perspective as they hold the key to the successful culmination of the Doha Round of Talks. Contrary to the general perception about the WYO, the US, European Union, Canada and Japan are no longer the only ones calling the shots, but Asia also (fortunately) has started to assume a lead role by effectively asserting its position and influence during the WTO related trade negotiations. Pakistan needs to cement its position within Asia in general and within the G-20 and G-90 in particular.

Trade liberalization through WTO regime has forced the world into tough competition. To face this situation developing nations have to reshape their trade policies.

The book explains WTO in detail and discusses its importance for Pakistan with special emphasis on the Pakistani textile sector. It provides a future vision to help Pakistan s trade policy in general, and its manufacturing and textile sectors in particular. It finally goes on to suggest achievable wcrys for Pakistan s corporations and products to attain competitive advantage in the global markets.
